Microchipping
At Avery Animal Hospital, we offer microchipping of your cat or dog using Home Again Microchips. These microchips are designed to last through your pets lifetime and serve as a permanent ID number for your pet. This identification number is then linked to a national database should your pet ever become lost.
Placement of the microchip is performed at our office and involves injection of the microchip under the skin between the shoulder blades. The microchip is about the size of a grain of rice and the procedure is similar to a vaccination and only takes a few seconds. Anesthesia is not required, although many families pair the procedure with their pets spay or neuter.
Please ask our veterinarians or staff any questions you may have about microchipping your pet at your next visit.
